The History of REISSWOLF.
The ongoing evolution of data processing and the growing volume of confidential information create a need for providers of secure data management and storage services. This is what led Volker Henning to establish REISSWOLF in Hamburg, Germany. The newly founded company quickly acquired its first customers — businesses, private individuals and public institutions.
1986
REISSWOLF Hamburg begins operations with revenue of €46,000.
1987
The network already has 8 franchisees.
1989
REISSWOLF Deutschland GmbH is established as an association of eight companies. Today, the network comprises 17 German companies united by a shared goal: security and efficient logistics.
1994
REISSWOLF becomes the market leader in Germany.
1997
REISSWOLF International GmbH is established.
1999
REISSWOLF has 37 partners across Europe.
2000
REISSWOLF founder Volker Henning is named “Businessman of the Year”. The Physical Archive Management service is launched.
2003
WirtschaftsWoche magazine and the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research present REISSWOLF Deutschland GmbH with the “Best Cooperation 2003” award.
2005
The German Franchise Association and the National Association for Information Destruction (NAID) accept the REISSWOLF Group as a member.
2006
The REISSWOLF Group is represented in 13 countries through 41 partners.
2007
The REISSWOLF Group is the European market leader in the storage and destruction of confidential documents and ranks among Europe’s top five providers in the records management segment.
2010
REISSWOLF Bulgaria is established and joins the international REISSWOLF network.
2011
REISSWOLF introduces the RFID-based ELSY electronic locking system.
2014
REISSWOLF Angola joins the network as REISSWOLF’s first franchise in Africa.
2015
REISSWOLF expands its portfolio with new digital document management solutions.
2016 and beyond
The REISSWOLF Group comprises more than 68 franchise partners in 35 countries, with over 1,200 employees, more than 80,000 customers worldwide and annual revenue exceeding €90 million. The company continues to expand — both geographically and in the scope of its digital services.
2017
REISSWOLF Bulgaria receives a Class A Investment Certificate and subsequently acquires land for its future facility in Bozhurishte.
2019
One of Bulgaria’s most technologically advanced facilities for archiving, destruction and digitization is built in Bozhurishte.
2020
Bulgaria’s Ministry of Economy certifies REISSWOLF Bulgaria’s second investment project.
2022
A new investment project begins with the acquisition of an additional 20,000 sq m in the Bozhurishte Industrial Zone, financed through a privately placed bond issue on the Bulgarian Stock Exchange.
2024
Construction begins on two new modern facilities with a combined capacity of 2,000,000 files and Tier 3 data centres.
2025 (September)
Construction of the two new facilities is completed, and both are now fully operational.
